An email is sent by Google to inform the website owner that the latter's application for monetization has been approved. But along with this approval notice comes the usual error message on the Google Adsense interface: "Earnings at risk - You need to fix some ads.txt file issues to avoid severe impact to your revenue."
How can this error message be fixed? Fortunately, this is something that can be easily fixed. Read below for the instructions.
Before proceeding, make sure to have your Google Adsense Publisher ID ready. You will need this later.
HOW TO GET YOUR GOOGLE ADSENSE PUBLISHER ID
To get your Google Adsense Publisher ID, sign in to the Google Adsense webpage. Upon signing in, click the menu button at the upper left side and choose Account.
You will be directed to the Account Information page. Your Publisher ID will be at the top with the following format: pub-0000000000000000. It's the word "pub" followed by a dash and a 16-digit number. Copy the 16-page number only.
After getting your Publisher ID, we now head to the Blogger dashboard.
HOW TO UPLOAD ADS.TXT FILE TO THE ROOT LEVEL DOMAIN OF YOUR BLOGGER-HOSTED WEBSITE
Go to blogger.com and sign in with your Google account. On the Blogger dashboard, hover to the menu on the left side and click Settings. Under Settings, click Search Preferences.
Hover to the lower section of the right page and look for the option for Monetization. Click Edit.
A text box will appear. Here, you need to paste the following:
google.com, pub-0000000000000000, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0
Make sure to replace the 0's on the publisher ID above with your own 16-digit Google Publisher ID. Click Save Changes.
That's it.
Note that the text you will be pasting is the same text that you will get if you go to your Adsense dashboard and click Fix Now. You will be prompted to DOWNLOAD the text file, but you will get the same text as the one above, but with your 16-digit Publisher ID already pre-populated.
Once you have uploaded the ads.txt file on your Blogger dashboard, the error message on Adsense should disappear within 24 hours.
